ArcSoft Joins DVD+RW Alliance
Powerful, easy-to-use ArcSoft ShowBiz® DVD to support
DVD+RW standard
FREMONT, Calif., March 2003--ArcSoft, Inc., the leading
software supplier to video and photo related device manufacturers
around the globe, today announced its full support of the
DVD+RW format by joining the DVD+RW Alliance. ArcSoft's
addition to the Alliance will help expand the standard
through the coupling of powerful, consumer-oriented applications
with hardware that support DVD+RW drives.
"DVD+RW provides a format allowing customers permanent
storage and archiving of critical data, home videos, and
photos. It's only natural that ArcSoft join the existing
Alliance members in an effort to help make the standard
a success," said Todd Rumaner, senior vice president
of sales and marketing, ArcSoft Inc. "In support of
our key OEM customers, we have joined the alliance to promote
the standard. We believe the convergence between personal
computing and consumer electronics is right here. The DVD+RW
Alliance promotes a standard that provides consumers with
a simple, creative, and flexible choice in creating custom
DVDs."
ArcSoft ShowBiz® DVD Unveiled
ArcSoft Showbiz® DVD is the first of several packages
touted for release this year with DVD support. The software
allows end-users to capture, edit, and author their videos
in a very intuitive and worry-free manner. When burning
movies to DVD+RW media, ArcSoft ShowBiz® will allow
end-users to re-edit their project directly on the disc
without transferring the movies back to their hard drive.
Once the DVD is "burned" using a DVD+RW drive,
playback is possible with most commercial DVD players currently
available. Users are free to create custom menus and designate
chapters according to their specific needs and tastes.
ArcSoft ShowBiz® DVD also includes a built-in video
editor that lets users enhance videos and still images,
create new video clips by combining smaller clips together
with unique scene transitions, and add scrolling text for
introduction and proceeding credits. Multiple audio tracks
are available for soundtracks and voiceover/special effects.
The program is presented through a dynamic user interface,
with a step-by-step functionality that users will find
inviting. The program effectively brings advanced home
movie making to the consumer level.
