PHILIPS MAKES HIGH PERFORMANCE DATA STORAGE AFFORDABLE
WITH ITS NEW 4x DVD+R/+RW REWRITER
DVDRW416K DVD/CD ReWriter includes 4x write speed on DVD+R
for fast permanent storage applications, bundled with fully
integrated Easy CD & DVD Creator 6.
Philips announces a new DVD+R/+RW drive for the PC, the
DVDRW416K, an entry model alternative to Philips' high-end
DVDRW424K. The DVDRW416K drive enables high-speed 4x recording
onto a DVD+R disc while offering standard performance levels
in DVD+RW (2.4x) and CD-R/RW (16x/10x) writing.
Allowing users of all skill levels to start enjoying the
new drive immediately, the DVDRW416K is supplied with Roxio's
Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 Basic software. This user-friendly
recording software is the only integrated software suite
that includes feature-rich digital media applications desired
by today's "digital consumer" to capture, edit,
manage and burn video, photos, music and data to CD or
DVD. The DVD Builder allows users to create DVDs of their
home movies and photo slideshows on a DVD+R or DVD+RW disc.
And the disc you create will play perfectly on the vast
majority of DVD-Video players and DVD-ROM drives.
With the DVDRW416K, one can safely burn discs thanks to
Philips' 'intelligent' drive features: Thermo-Balanced
Writing for optimal writing on all CD-RW discs and Seamless
Link to protect against buffer underrun.
Simplified installation helps users to start making DVD
and CD recordings as quickly and easily as possible. The
drive is supplied with interactive installation software,
including video instructions that show how to install the
drive in the PC. The installation program automatically
checks the PC configuration and if necessary updates it
to optimize DVD/CD recording and rewriting performance.
The new Philips DVDRW416K will be supplied as a complete
kit for retail sales. The drive kit will be supplied with
Roxio's Easy CD&DVD Creator 6 Basic, the Quick Install
Guide, interactive installation software, audio cable,
mounting screws and a blank DVD+R disc. Shipments will
start in May 2003 and will be priced at approximately EURO
349 (incl. VAT) or local equivalent.
