Shaping the Future with DVD+ format

As a core member of the DVD+RW alliance, Verbatim supports this media format with a great range of DVD+R and DVD+RW products.

In order to appeal to a variety of users in different markets, Verbatim offer media in a variety of pack configurations and disc surfaces, as well as in 2.4x and 4x speeds.

2.4x recording speeds are available as standard 5 and 10 pack Jewel cases as well as tall video style box. For those who wish to print on the surface of the disc, Verbatim offer a full inkjet printable surface in their DVD+R media as well as providing a 25pk spindle pack for those who record regularly onto DVD. Coloured disc surfaces are also being developed and are due for launch in April 2003.

The latest 4x DVD+R media is now available as a 5 and 10 pack with a printable surface disc being available as a 10pk.

DVD+RW 4x media, due for launch around June 2003, will be available as a 5 pack Jewel Case in the first instance.

As well as satisfying the markets with different pack configurations, the technology behind Verbatim's media means the users benefit from excellent reliability and stability.

Verbatims' 2.4x DVD+R media uses Metal AZO recording dye. To enable recording at 4x speed, parent company Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation developed Advanced AZO. The company's 2.4x rewritable media uses SERL technology whereas 4x DVD+RW will use a technology based on SERL, but with improvements that enable 4x recording and rewriting.

"As well as offering a variety of pack configuration, backed up by our core technologies, we also work very closely all the major drive manufacturers." says Ryuhei Sato, Director Optical Business EUMEA. "This means our media has wide compatibility with a huge majority of drives."

With the backing of parent company Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation in Japan, and its huge research and development programme, the next innovation is always on the horizon.
