Verbatim 4X "Producer" DVD+R/RW Burner Shipping
All-in-One DVD/CD Burner Doubles DVD Write Performance
While Delivering Highest Compatibility, Verbatim Quality
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 9, 2003 - Verbatim® Corporation and
Peripherals Group, Inc., the exclusive licensor of Verbatim
optical hardware products and a subsidiary of CenDyne,
Inc., jointly unveiled Verbatim 4x "Producer" DVD+R/RW
drive at CES, Booth #18000 today. Able to burn a full-capacity
4.7GB +R disc in about 15 minutes, the new 4x DVD+R/RW
drive delivers a whole new world of high-speed recording
and playback plus unmatched player compatibility for both
video and data applications. Verbatim 4x Producer is based
on the DVD+RW format, which was established to ensure optimum
data playback across all popular DVD playback devices.
Broad compatibility makes the new Verbatim 4x drive ideal
for sharing digital photos, video, multimedia presentations
and data files.
In addition to enhancing playback compatibility, the drive's
support for lossless linking allows different users to
write (and read) additional data and video segments without
finalizing the sessions.
Offering cost-effective DVD/CD storage flexibility, the
new Verbatim 4x Producer supports 4x DVD+R write speed,
2.4x DVD+RW rewrite speed, and 12x DVD read speed. Smaller
files, such as MP3 files, can be stored on low-cost 700MB
CD-Rs at up to 16x speed or on CD-RW discs at up to 10x
speed. CD playback is at 40x.
"The Verbatim 4x Producer is the most complete, easy-to-use
solution for recording DVDs and CDs," said Jim Hill,
optical product manager, Peripherals Group, Inc. "With
the software that is included with the drive, anyone who
purchased or received a digital camcorder for the holidays
can immediately begin to create home videos." "As
a founding member of the DVD+RW alliance, we are committed
to supporting business and home users who purchase this
new high-speed drive with the industry's most reliable
DVD+R and +RW media," said Ronan Ryan, marketing director,
Verbatim Corp. "The drive's support for the most popular
DVD format and backward compatibility with the CD-R and
CD-RW formats makes it the storage solution of choice for
anyone who wants to do more with their digital video and
photography."
The internal drive attaches easily to any PC with an available
drive bay and Microsoft® Windows® XP, 2000, ME
or 98SE. A complete storage solution, the new drive comes
with everything to begin recording immediately, including
cables, a comprehensive suite of software and blank DVD+RW
media.
With Sonic MyDVD™ 4.0 DVD authoring and recording
software, users can quickly and easily capture video clips,
transfer video, create and edit movies, add titles and
other effects to home videos, and burn them to a disc.
For play-back of DVD movies created commercially or on
a DVD+R/RW burner, Producer includes InterVideo's WinDVD.
Verbatim's Producer also ships with Verbatim DataLife Mastering
software for burning and creation, as well as MusicMatch
Jukebox for unlimited MP3 encoding. Plus, the new burner
comes with a 30-day trial version of NTI Backup NOW®!
software plus a $20 discount off the purchase of Backup
Now! Deluxe.
Backed by a one-year warranty and toll free technical
support, the Verbatim 4x Producer DVD+R/RW internal drive
is available now at leading computer and consumer electronics
retailers for a suggested retail price of $299.
