from all tables above were established using qualified
DVD+RW and DVD+R discs containing video created using products
from HP and Philips as part of an ongoing compatibility
testing process. The type of testing employed is useful
for giving a first indication of compatibility. In view
of the variation in the user's configuration and the numerous
firmware revisions that exist for all DVD Players and DVD-ROMs,
actual playback results may differ from the test results
listed.
In no way is it the intent of the companies that performed
the testing, nor of the DVD+RW Alliance that these indicative
compatibility results can be seen as a guarantee of compatibility.
To ensure future DVD+RW and DVD+R compatibility, the
DVD+RW Alliance has an established program to distribute
DVD+RW and DVD+R test discs to all major DVD manufacturers.
Actual testing for the compatibility indication as provided
in this overview involved DVD+RW discs that were created
using settings 1 & 2 for lead-in bit settings. DVD+R
discs were created using the default HP lead-in bit setting.
Testing occurred during August 2001 - May 2002 and Hewlett-Packard,
Intellikey and Philips conducted the testing.
